And here are a few of the main items the Birmingham City Council discussed at the February 25th, 2020 meeting:

Items 1 and 2

In order for the new owners to get more input from the neighborhood association, the Birmingham City Council voted on a 2 week delay for the transfers of an Off Premise Beer and Wine License, and a Lounge Retail Liquor Class II License for Save Mart, located at 4000 Jefferson Avenue S.W. Suite A.

Item 21

The Birmingham City Council approved an amendment to a City ordinance that will modernize on-street parking. The Ordinance would allow for other forms of payment in meters in addition to coins.

Item 24

The Council approved a three-year contract with ParkMobile, a vendor who will be processing mobile payments to the city’s parking meters. These changes will be made by placing signage and stickers on the existing meters and will be at no cost to the city. The price for the meters will not change, however there is a 45 cent processing fee that will be charged by the vendor — 15 cents of that fee will go to the City.
