Council President Pro Tem Alexander encouraging residents to sign up for vaccine distribution updates
A Jefferson County COVID-19 vaccine self-registration form is now available for residents to utilize.
Local healthcare officials are urging residents to please refrain from calling Birmingham hospitals directly to set up appointments to be scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccine. An influx of calls recently has inundated hospital switchboards, which is creating an obstacle to patient care.
On behalf of the Birmingham City Council, President Pro Tem Wardine Alexander is asking that residents to fill out this form in order to sign up for a vaccine and for additional information on when they will become available.
Once registered, Jefferson County health officials will then make a determination on which phase of the vaccine distribution is most appropriate and will notify those who register as to when they will be able to receive the vaccine.
“Our hospitals and healthcare workers are doing everything they can in order to not only care for COVID-19 patients, but also for those who are hospitalized for other medical reasons,” Alexander said. “I’m urging all our residents to please refrain from calling the hospital directly to inquire about the vaccination process. Instead, please fill out the form — it will help put you in line to receive the vaccine and also ensure that you are receiving updates on the process.”
