Birmingham City Councilor Crystal Smitherman will be hosting the annual District 6 Job Fair on Friday, June 11 at the Memorial Park Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Her office has partnered with some of the areas largest employers who will be looking to fill positions. Companies like Coca-Cola, Buffalo Rock, the JCCEO, Golden Flake and more will be there with the goal of hiring new employees.

One of Councilor Smitherman’s main priorities has been to advocate for increasing economic opportunities for people throughout District 6 and Birmingham.

Last year dozens of people came out and were able to apply for well-paying jobs. There will be computers available as well as experts to help applicants complete their resumes if needed.

“This annual event is about lifting up our community and making sure people who are able and willing can find a good, high-quality job,” Smitherman said. “Improving the quality of life in our districts has to start with increasing economic opportunities for people who live here. We had an amazing turnout last year and we hope to repeat that success and fill as many positions as possible.”

There will also be a virtual component for this year’s District 6 Job Fair — those who register for the virtual meeting will be able to interact with and hear from local recruiters. To register, please follow the link below and provide your name and email address. You will receive a WebEx link and additional information the morning of the event. Registration is not required for the in-person event.
