Councilors J.T. Moore and LaTonya Tate Contribute ARPA Funds to Critical Housing Repair
At Tuesday’s Council Meeting at Boutwell Auditorium, Councilor J.T. Moore (District 4) and Councilor LaTonya A. Tate (District 9) contributed ARPA funds to Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham Inc. to go towards their Healthy Housing Initiative Program, which will provide needed housing repairs to qualified, low to moderate-income homeowners residing in their districts.
“I’m really excited about this item in particular, I’ve had an opportunity to go to several residents within District 4 and see the state of their houses,” explained Moore. “Realizing that certain folks are on fixed incomes and are not able to actually provide these different resources for themselves.”
Funds will be used for:
- Repair/replacement of major housing systems and structures
- ADA compliance and site improvements
- Utility connections
