President Parker encourages everyone to come out for Funk Fest 2020 at Legion Field this Saturday

--

This Saturday, Legion Field will be the site of Funk Fest 2020, a music and entertainment festival that will bring thousands of people to the historic stadium.

The annual event, which will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., is expected to have an economic impact of roughly $2 million in Birmingham, according to Council President William Parker.

Because of the ongoing public health crisis of COVID-19, attendees will be required to adhere to the Center for Disease Control’s social-distancing guidelines, meaning they must wear masks and stay at least six feet apart.

Being a large, outdoor stadium, Legion Field is well suited to accommodate crowds in a safe and responsible way, President Parker said.

“We want organizers to know that Legion Field is open for business,” President Parker said. “Funk Fest 2020 is one of many outdoor festivals and programming we’re bringing back to Legion Field and I’d like to encourage all our residents to come out and have some safe, socially-distanced fun. I think we could all use that right now.”
